Yes. Good song, I have to admit. Dylan's song writing is in a league of its own. One of the many who defined the so-called hippie generation. Indeed Bob Dylan was there. He wrote about it in songs like "Ballad of a Thin Man" and "The Times They are A-changin". It was an era that changed the nation.
The time is the 1960's.
Black people marched and rallied for equal rights. They were fed up with the bigotry and discrimination and said that enough was enough and they demanded a change. I don't blame them.
But there were also negative changes that were morphed into this strange new landscape. War protesting hippies blowing dope in the wind and turning on, tuning in, and dropping out as if it was the cool thing to do. Women's Lib screaming for abortion on demand - while shouting for free love in the same breath.
Since then, the nation did change significantly. The "hangover" from the 60's lasted throughout the 70's, 80's, 90's, and in to this new century. The young people who were leading this movement are now the older people who are running this country and things have only gotten worse.
What was once a needed and legitimate civil rights push regarding blacks in America who wanted to be treated like everyone else with good men like Martin Luther King leading their cause, have now devolved into reverse racism. In Oakdale California, 4 white cops are shot dead by a black ex-convict named Lovelle Mixon on parole when he was pulled over. He is also shot dead. And the community rallies for Mixon - memorializing him as some kind of hero for people of color.
We have Black Panthers armed with nightsticks outside polling booths imtimidating voters.
We have a biased media which magnifies and over-exposes hate crimes when it's white on black, but minimizes it as much as possible when the races are reversed.
We have guys like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson out to demoralize our police when they are out there putting their lives on the line for us.
Dr. King would never approve of any of this. He is probably turning in his grave. He would never march in honor of a thug like Lovelle Mixon. He preached for positive change through non-violent means.
And so the 1960's hangover is getting worse and worse. Not better.
We have an out of control, socialistic administration that is making this government bigger and more dangerous than it ever was before.
We have groups like ACORN manipulating the election process by registering phony names. And now some workers have been caught covering up prostitution rings of under age girls and giving advice on how to skate the IRS - and they are funded by tax payers.
Yes, the sixties was an era of serious change. Change on a scale we haven't seen since.
Until now.
Oh yeah, Bob, the times they are a-changing once again. Only this time it's the American conservatives - the real patriots among us - who are fed up and are rising up and demanding our country back.
It was always the liberals who were so good at organizing rallies and major protests. Now the conservatives have also learned how. And we're stronger than ever.
Yes, the message at the March on DC rally was mainly about being taxed to death and Obama trying to turn us into a socialist nation. But there is a lot more to this.
We're sick of being told to shut up. We're sick of being called homophobes because we disagree with gay marriage. We're sick of a liberally biased media demonizing our troops and labeling them as baby killers. We're sick of seeing Christians getting discriminated against. We're sick of being told that we should respect this socialist piece of garbage in the White House by the same hypocritical punks who didn't respect Bush. We're sick of illegal immigration ruining our communities and when we speak out against it, we're labeled haters of immigrants and racists.
We're sick of watching talk show hosts getting demonized because they speak the truth. We're sick of watching a Republican congressman getting dragged through the mud because he called a liar a liar. We're sick of being forced to fund corrupt organizations like ACORN, the United Nations, and the baby butchering Planned Parenthood. We're sick of being blamed for the murder of a partial birth abortion doctor who was killed by some loner with no ties to any prolife group. We're sick of being labeled as potential terrorists by the Homeland Security Department.
Many of us have been sick of this sort of crap for well over a decade now - but only now is it finally catching on.
We're sick of what liberals have done to this nation and we're taking it back!
Oh something is happening here indeed, only this time "Mister Jones" - who doesn't know what it is - is not the conservative in the suit and tie from the 1960's. Now it's the socialist in the suit and tie who's trying to break America. He doesn't know what's happening. He doesn't realize just how determined we are at defending whatever greatness there is left in this country. We see what's going on now - and we're not going to let him get away with it.
Don't let the dolts in the mainstream media fool you by the way they have been downplaying the March on DC. This was a rally of historic proportions. This is the hippie movement in reverse. I can't say what lies ahead in the immediate future. It might not be pretty. There may be a serious uprising and there may be chaos and even death. But in the end, freedom and justice will prevail. What a great time to be alive. History will view these days as another important turning point in our nation. Another change for the better. A real change. Not Obama's change.
